Day 132- Cape Town 12/2/13

The Cairo Four's last day all together on the Garden Route. Continued to follow Route 62 which has some magnificent scenery, as you pass a continuing procession of mountain range after mountain range - from the Red Hills through a seeming succession of passes, and on past Ladismith (as it is spelt here) to the "world famous" Ronnie's Sex Shop. Yes, that is correct - in the middle of nowhere. We stopped for a milkshake (what a lot of wimps) and did not get beyond the bar which was festooned with a whole variety of ladies underwear. Was there more to see? We decided not to investigate, but Rose did add our Cairo Four names to the many others that decorate the building. However, we had to make a return visit as - nearly 100k further on - Rose found that, in doing so, she had left her wallet behind there. Fortunately, their customers are very honest! However, this meant that we were up against the clock for returning the car by the required time of 18.00. With Rose driving - and DESPERATE for a wc - and me navigating through the centre of CT in the rush hour, we made it with just 19 minutes to spare. Phew!

And so the CF came to our final evening - down at the (very impressive) Victoria and Alfred (not Albert) Waterfront area, where we had a celebratory fish and chips combo (ie hake with calamari) before the 4 became 3. Karina is leaving for OZ tomorrow, so lots of hugs and a few kisses. She will get back to the UK in five weeks but has still to hear if her application to work in the Sudan has been accepted.

  1. Damn. Neil just found me googling 'Ronnie's sex shop', and now thinks the worst.
