Day 121- Stellenbosch 1/2/13

Well, the plunge has been taken and the Cairo Four - Karina, Rose, Ian and yours truly - collected our (almost) brand new Chevrolet at - surprise surprise - a cost somewhat higher than we expected when booking via the net. Never mind, it's all part of the holiday.

First stop was south to Boulders Bay to see the colony of African (formerly "Jackass") penguins, where there is a special boardwalk that allows you to walk to within a few feet of them. Then up north of Cape Town to Stellenbosch in the wine growing area. Must say that both the town, with its white "Dutch colonial" style architecture, and the surrounding scenery are really impressive. The town was really buzzing with people, it being the time of the annual wine festival.

Staying for two nights at a local B&B - very pleasant and friendly, with own swimming pool etc., from which there are superb views. Marie says that on a clear day you can see Table Mountain.
