Day 123- Cape Agulhas 3/2/13

Visited the university botanical gardens before leaving Stellenbosch, but have to say that rather disappointing - rather small, and not much colour!

Then it was on to the real "journey's end" of this trip that started almost exactly for months ago at Alexandria. Cape Agulhas is the real southern tip of Africa (rather than the Cape of Good Hope) so you have to come here if you are really "doing Africa from top to bottom". Pictures taken etc at the point where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet, followed by a celebratory lunch of fish and chips (hake if you ask) - really good. Then a visit to the harbour to see the sting rays patrolling the shore - another to be added to our list of wildlife not seen before.

Lunch had been so filling that we had simply a picnic supper on the beach, watching the sunset over a local wreck. Staying for two nights at the local backpackers hostel, again complete with its own swimming pool.
