Day 124- Cape Agulhas 4/2/13

Down to the harbour again, this time to feed (and stroke) the sting rays - quite an experience. The coast here has mile after mile of white sands stretching into the distance, so we went for a long walk right around the bay and beyond, with a picnic lunch looking out at the turquoise colour of the ocean.

A drive in the afternoon took us across to the village of Arniston (seemingly in two halves - the upmarket rich and the "rustic" houses of the presumably poor). The tarmac of the road stopped just after the last of the houses of the well off. The real attraction of this village is a massive cave, approachable only at low tide - "so big you can make a circular turn in an ox cart inside it" (if you would ever want to, or get an ox cart there in the first place).

Dinner was back at our local harbour, for a superb fish dinner at Pelicans restaurant, washed down of course with a bottle of the local wine. We really are enjoying this.

  1. I've got a pretty similar picture of me stroking a sting ray in the London Aquarium. Only minor differences being the water wasn't as clear, it was half the size, I wasn't in the water, and the tank was about the size of a bath. Other than that, exactly the same.

The pics look amazing Bryan, looking forward to a low down and slide show when you eventually decide to return ;-)
