Day 128- Plett 8/2/13

Feeling energetic, we started early (using Karina's Xmas present to me of a pack of Wheatabix for our breakfast), for a 10k walk around the Robberg peninsula. (We were nearly killed by a non attentive truck driver on the way there, but lived to tell the tale - and see his long skid marks on our journey home). Great, with lots of seals to watch on land and frolicking in the water, but for the first 3/4 hour or so, we were infested with biting ants - not good at all. Outward walk was relatively easy but the backward leg involved a lot of up and down, and clambering over boulders of every shape and size. Having started early to avoid the heat, it was by now very hot!

In the afternoon, I decided to go for a medical check up as dassies can carry rabies and all such bites are notifiable in SA. It cost me ZAR400, but it seems that I shall continue to survive. Having once seen a film of someone dying of rabies, this was a price worth paying for the reassurance.

Yet another superb meal in the evening, this time at a French restaurant. Some time all this excellent eating will have to stop - but not just yet.
